Eco Life Workshop: Making soap from leftover oil

Cooking and food processing activities in restaurants, eateries, bakeries, and households; convenience stores, fast-food chains, food services, and households discharge a significant amount of leftover cooking oil. When pouring leftover cooking oil into drainage systems, it solidifies, creating build-ups and blockages that disrupt the wastewater system, resulting in additional costs and sanitation issues during the cleaning process.

  • Causes water pollution: Leftover cooking oil discharged into the environment floats on the surface, leading to water pollution.

  • Causes soil pollution: Leftover cooking oil poured onto the ground seeps into the soil, contaminating groundwater and providing a breeding ground for harmful microorganisms, leading to foul odors and soil pollution.

Therefore, to recycle and repurpose leftover cooking oil into a useful ingredient for everyday life, an innovative yet effective idea is recycling leftover cooking oil into environmentally friendly soap bars
